Xiaomi YU7 Debuts with Pricing Tease; Deliveries Set for July  

Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun unveiled the YU7 electric SUV on May 22 but refrained from disclosing its price, dismissing rumors of a RMB 199,000 (USD 27,600) starting tag. Pre-sales and official pricing will follow in July. The YU7 standard variant features a single motor RWD, 96.3 kWh battery pack and a range of 835km. The Pro and Max editions feature dual-motor AWD, being equipped with 96.3 kWh battery pack and 101.7 kWh battery pack, respectively, boosting 770km and 760km range, respectively. Lei emphasized the SUV’s “flagship performance at mainstream pricing” during the livestreamed launch.  

Geely Galaxy M9 Global Debut in Milan with a Comprehensive Range of 1,500km

The Geely Galaxy M9 made its global debut in Milan, and this vehicle is also a global model. The Geely Galaxy M9 boasts a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds, a fuel consumption of 4.8L/100km when running on gasoline alone, and a comprehensive range of 1,500km. It will be equipped with G-Pilot H5 assisted driving system, the AI Power 2.0 large model unique to its class, and dual-chamber closed air suspension.

BYD Overtakes Tesla in European BEV Sales for April  

BYD outsold Tesla in Europe’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) market for the first time in April 2025, with 7,231 registrations (+169% YoY) versus Tesla’s 7,165, per JATO Dynamics. Including PHEVs, BYD’s total surged 359% to 12,441 units.

Deepal S09 Launches at RMB 239,900 (USD 33,300) with Huawei ADS  

Deepal’s S09 PHEV SUV hit markets on May 22, priced from RMB 239,900 (USD 33,300) to RMB 309,900 (USD 43,000). The model features Huawei’s HarmonySpace 5 cockpit, 43-inch AR-HUD, and Huawei ADS 3.0 autonomous driving (upgradable to ADS 4.0 in H2). Its 1.5T range-extender powertrain delivers 1,200 km CLTC range and 4.5L/100km fuel efficiency.
