BYD has taken the stage at the Geneva Auto Show, revealing eight models to the world, including the European debut of the Yangwang U8.
One of the highlights at the show is the Seal U DM-i, which BYD plans to introduce in Europe in the second quarter of this year.
This marks BYD's second appearance at a European auto show, following their participation in the Munich Auto Show last September.
During the show, BYD showcased its DM-i super hybrid technology, demonstrating its advancements to European consumers.
Michael Shu, general manager of BYD's European automotive sales division, commented that the company first introduced the first generation of DM technology at the Geneva Auto Show 16 years ago. After several rounds of technology iterations, they are now presenting the DM-i super hybrid technology.
The 2024 Geneva Auto Show is a significant event, having been first held since 2019. It was canceled in 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At this year's show, BYD gave its premium brand Yangwang its European debut, introducing the brand's first production vehicle - the Yangwang U8 off-road SUV.
BYD officially launched Yangwang on January 5, 2023, targeting the luxury market with a price tag in the RMB 1 million ($139,000) range.
The Yangwang U8, the first production vehicle from Yangwang, went on sale on September 20, 2023. Deliveries began on November 24.
According to data compiled by CnEVpost, the model starts at RMB 1,098,000. In December, 1,593 vehicles were delivered, followed by 1,652 in January.
Just last month, on February 25, Yangwang launched the U9 electric supercar in China, marking the brand's second model. This model has a starting price of RMB 1.68 million.
It's clear that BYD is making significant strides in the European market, showcasing its latest technologies and models to a wider audience.
Yangwang also revealed the U7 new energy sedan last month, and the model's official launch.
