Performance and Technology
The e4 platform offers four independent electric motors, which enables the U7 to achieve tank turn and crab walk. Even more flexible than an A0-level mini car, isn’t it? Furthermore, the four motors boost robust powertrain to the car, with a maximum output of 960kW (1,300hp), a peak torque of 1584N·M, and a 0-100km/h sprint of 2.9s.
Innovative Suspension System
The Yunnian-Z intelligent suspension is the first full-electric suspension system on the planet. The system uses a floating motor to control the suspension, through an electromagnetic field. It is said that it is adapted from aircraft carrier electromagnetic tech. In terms of safety, the suspension ensure the car a stable drive for 30km, even with a tire blowout at a speed of80km/h.
Electric battery, electric motor, electric control system, plus electric suspension, BYD starts a new era of “Four Electric” in the history of NEV manufacture.
Advanced Autonomous Driving and Parking
The DiPilot 600 is also a selling point of U7. Utilizing 32 intelligent driving sensors, dual-Orin X chips with a computing power of 508TOPS, the U7 provide the driver with L2+ advanced intelligent driving assistance. It is worth mentioning that the valet parking function could remember a 1000 meters route, and achieve extreme narrow parking space by a success rate of 98%.
Yangwang’s Market Strategy
Yangwang is a premium brand under BYD, and was established in 2023, the exact year BYD announced to create NEVs only. Since 2022, Yangwang has already launched three models, U8 off-road EREV SUV, U9 electric supercar, and today’s U7.
As the fast development of Chinese NEV manufacture, Chinese carmakers are racing to take up more market shares. Except for seizing the low-end and middle-end market, high-end market is much more attractive for Chinese car makers. BYD’s layout in high-end market was bold but visionary.
