Li Auto’s MEGA Home Edition Rolls Off Line as Weekly Orders Hit 11,000  


Li Auto’s MEGA Home Edition, a family-oriented variant of its flagship MPV, began production at its Beijing smart factory on May 20, with deliveries slated to commence nationwide from May 23. The company reported 11,000 new orders between May 12-18, driven by refreshed L-series models featuring upgraded AD Max 3.0 systems. The update swaps dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips for a single Thor-U processor, enabling end-to-end autonomous driving with visual-language model (VLM) integration. A more advanced VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model will debut in H2 2025.  



BYD, CAR Inc. Car Rental Forge Strategic NEV Partnership  


BYD and CAR Inc. signed a strategic agreement on May 20 to expand NEV deployments for China’s 2025 summer travel season. Following successful May Day holiday trials with BYD Qin PLUS DM-i sedans and FangChengBao Bao 8 SUVs, CAR Inc. plans to scale its BYD fleet to meet surging demand. The partnership aligns with CAR Inc.’s goal to electrify 50% of its 200,000-vehicle rental network by 2026.  



Wey Lanshan Facelift Launches at RMB 299,800 (USD 41,600) with Next-Gen Hybrid Platform  


Great Wall Motor’s Wey brand unveiled the revamped Lanshan PHEV SUV on May 20, priced from RMB 299,800 (USD 41,600). To mark Wey’s 8th anniversary, Chairman Wei Jianjun announced an RMB 80,000 (USD 11,100) trade-in subsidy for original VV7 owners. The model debuts Wey’s new “Omni-Power Super Intelligent Platform,” compatible with five powertrains (PHEV, BEV, EREV, FCEV, ICE) and featuring:  

- 800V hybrid architecture with 400+ km EV range  

- 6C hybrid battery (200 km range in 5-minute charge)  

- Industry-first “vehicle intelligence body” with VLA model integration  

Flagship models on the platform will launch through 2026.  



NBS: April NEV Output Surges 38.9% YoY  


China’s new energy vehicle production jumped 38.9% year-on-year in April 2025, while EV charger output rose 43.1%, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) spokesperson Fu Linghui announced on May 19. The growth underscores accelerated NEV adoption, with Q1 2025 EV penetration exceeding 50% in major cities like Shanghai and Shenzhen.
