Xiaomi Unveils Pre-Research Intelligent Chassis Technologies
Yesterday, Autocango learned from Xiaomi’s official weibo account that the company would unveil its pre-research intelligent chassis technology in the evening of November 14.
Here let’s check out how is Xiaomi’s chassis technology.
Firstly, Xiaomi posted the four key components of the intelligent chassis technology, following that, a video showcased the dynamic movements and capabilities of the innovative intelligent chassis, which impressively, including maneuvers like dancing, compass turns, and performing on-the-spot turns.
Core Technological Innovations
Here are the detailed functions for the four key components, which all represent a great leap in automotive engineering and user experience:
1. Xiaomi Fully Active Suspension:
The fully active suspension system is equipped with a single-wheel 4.6kW power source, with upgraded dual-valve variable damping shock absorbers. It means that the system is able to adjust up to 140mm and deliver a maximum of 44,400 N lift force. What’s more, the suspension system can be integrated seamlessly with Xiaomi's entire ecosystem ("smart car-home interface"), so that the users can control the vehicle movements, such as dancing, directly through their smartphones.
2. Xiaomi Super Four-Motor System:
The super four-motor system includes two newly in-house developed front motors and two V8s rear motors, all of them can deliver a maximum horsepower of 2054 PS. The two front motors can reach up to 28,000 rpm, with each motor providing a maximum horsepower of 449 PS and a peak torque of 380 Nm. Thanks to the four motors, the vehicle can perform on-the-spot turns at adjustable speeds and even multiple consecutive turns.
3. Xiaomi 48V Brake-by-Wire System:
Utilizing the electric calipers, the 48V brake-by-wire system can achieve a 40% faster response time and increase the vehicle's range by over 10 kilometers.
4. Xiaomi 48V Steer-by-Wire System:
The 48V steer-by-wire system allows the user to control the vehicle fully through software, make a steering-wheel-free layout come true. In future, the steering wheel could become an optional feature, users can install it for manual driving, or remove it for a complete autonomous driving
Towards Full Autonomous Driving
Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi, emphasized that the intelligent chassis technologies are a critical component of the company’s vision for fully autonomous driving vehicles. By leveraging Xiaomi's advanced AI capabilities, future vehicle generations will support complete autopilot functions, reflecting the company's commitment to pioneering innovation in automotive technologies.
