Xpeng Motors and Huawei announced the releasing of XHUD, an advanced AR-HUD technology. According to the two parties, the cutting-edge technology is developed to solve three pain points in HUD technology: vagueness, vertigo, and sight-blocking.
According to the posts by XPENG Weibo account, the XHUD features:
- Ultra large display area: 87 inches
- Latency: 100ms (industry-low)
- Continuous brightness: 12,000 nits (industry-leading)
- Static distortion of the image: ≤1% (industry-lowest)
- High precision image, ensuring accurate alignment of virtual and real images
The XHUD system is co-built with Huawei’s self-developed imaging module especially for automotives, an AR-HUD base created with AR composition engine. The XHUD us set to debut with the expecting Xpeng G7 SUV, which is planned to launch on June 11.
Here are some innovations for the XHUD:
- AR navigation: innovatively, XHUD can project navigation routes onto the real road, covering all city roads all around China, capable of accurate guide on complex intersections. If you are playing any racing games, you would take the projection as ‘light carpet’ in the games.
- Assistant to intelligent driving: XHUD covers various scenarios such as waiting for the lights, waiting to change lanes, and remind of a lane change to right or left.
- For safety: it will warns the driver to avoid obstacles or pedestrians, or side and rear approaching car, and an AR assistant function used on rainy foggy weathers.
