GAC Aion N60 Market Launch and Design

On April 28, GAC Aion officially launched its new compact pure electric sedan, the N60, at the Beijing Auto Show. The vehicle is available in three configurations with a limited-time launch price range of RMB 106,800 (USD 15,500) to RMB 126,800 (USD 18,400).

The N60 was designed under the leadership of Benoit Jacob, the former designer of the BMW i8 and i3. It features a streamlined aerodynamic profile with "Quantum Star Ring" light groups and a floating roof. The sedan offers seven exterior colors and three interior schemes. All models come standard with a 2.38㎡ panoramic canopy equipped with an electric sunshade.

Advanced Powertrain and Efficiency Benchmarks

The N60 debuts GAC's Quark Drive 2.0 system, which utilizes amorphous alloy stator core technology paired with a silicon carbide controller. This combination reduces electric drive system losses by 75%, allowing:

- A peak efficiency of 99%

- A maximum power of 165Kw

- A power consumption as low as 11.7kWh per 100km

GAC Aion reports that at equivalent battery capacities, the CLTC range increases by approximately 5-8% compared to industry standards.

Power is supplied by the Magazine Battery 2.0 technology, with lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cells provided by Inpow Battery, a GAC subsidiary. The top-tier variant offers a CLTC range of 610km. The system supports 180kW fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% charge in approximately 30 minutes.

Safety data for the Magazine Battery series shows over 1.3 million installations and 110 billion cumulative kilometers driven without a single spontaneous combustion incident, passing rigorous ballistic and puncture tests.

Intelligent Driving and Safety Architecture

A key differentiator for the N60 in the compact segment is the inclusion of standard Lidar and 4D millimeter-wave radar across the entire lineup. The intelligent driving system utilizes an end-to-end large model derived from WeRide’s L4 autonomous technology. This enables full-scenario high-level intelligent pilot assistance and automated parking.

Safety is further reinforced by robust hardware architecture. The core framework of the passenger cabin utilizes 1500MPa high-strength hot-formed steel. Active safety features include 18 standard functions, an anti-rollover airbag system, "Sentry Mode," and 360-degree panoramic imaging.

Customer Config Preferences

Since pre-sales commenced on April 16, the model has already secured 8,356 orders. Customer data indicates a high interest in the vehicle's hardware, with 78% of buyers focusing on the Lidar and 4D millimeter-wave radar setup, 64% of buyers cited the WeRide-sourced algorithm as a primary factor in their purchase decisions, while 5% of female buyers praised the zero-gravity front passenger seat.
