Hongqi Unveils Tiangong Platform and Tiangong 08 SUV

Hongqi Launches Tiangong Pure Electric and Jiuzhang Intelligent Platforms

Hongqi brand, under China FAW Group, hosted the New Energy Night event last night on the 12th of November 2024. On the event, the brand unveiled its latest innovation: two cutting-edge platforms: the Tiangong pure electric platform and the Jiuzhang intelligent platform, as well as the Tiangong 08 pure electric SUV.

Tiangong Pure Electric Platform

CEO of FAW’s technical platform Zhou Shiying introduced that the Tiangong platform and Jiuzhang platform can be considered the body and brain of the vehicle. The highly modular Tiangong platform covers a wide range of vehicle types, from A-class to C+ class sedans, SUVs, MPVs, and crossover models, showing an extreme high integration abilities

Let’s check the three main features of the Tiangong Platform introduced by Hongqi.

Firstly, highly efficient drive. The platform boasts an efficiency rate of 96%, which is the highest among mass-produced electric drives.

Secondly, the low-temperature battery cells. This is Hongqi’s self-developed battery cell, which can retain 98% charge at temperatures as low as -10°C.

Thirdly, rapid charging capability. It is told by the brand that the platform can achieve 80% charge in just 5 minutes, which is faster than traditional refueling speeds.

Jiuzhang Intelligent Platform

The Jiuzhang intelligent platform manages the cognitive, computational, and decision-making aspects of the vehicle. Through continuous AI algorithm training and vehicle-cloud collaboration, Hongqi will be able to offer the consumers a smart "Lingxi Cockpit" with responsive interactions, and a safe and reliable "Sinen Intelligent Driving System"。

The vehicle will be equipped with following configurations:

- In-house developed Feiren Architecture

- Integrated operating system —— FAW.OS

- China's first advanced process five-domain fusion chip —— Hongqi 1 Chip, perfectly matches automotive APPs.

Tiangong 08 SUV

The Tiangong 08 is positioned as a mid-to-large SUV, built on the two new platforms. According to Hongqi, the car will start pre-order during the 2024 Guangzhou Auto Show starting November 15, and will officially hit the market in mid-December.

Here are some configurations known yet:

- Power Options: The car offers two power options, one is single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a maximum power of 253 kW, the other is dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) with front and rear motors boosting 202 kW and 253 kW, respectively.

- Top Speed: The car can achieve a top speed of 200 km/h.

- Battery Choices: The car offers two kinds of battery packages, including ternary lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery.

- Range: There are two range choices, 730 km and 680 km.
