Leapmotor Reports Record First Quarter Revenue and Confirms Second Brand


On May 15, 2026, Leapmotor officially released its financial report for the first quarter of 2026. The company achieved a total operating revenue of RMB 10.82 billion (USD 1.57 billion), setting a historical record for the first quarter. Global delivery volume reached 110,155 units during the three-month period, driven by strong international demand, with overseas exports contributing 40,901 units to the total volume. Management reiterated that its sales guidance of 240,000 to 250,000 vehicles for the second quarter remains unchanged.


During the performance briefing, Leapmotor management officially confirmed the existence of its second vehicle brand. This upcoming brand is scheduled to make its initial public debut at the end of this year, with the first production models expected to hit the market by mid-2027.



Stellantis and Dongfeng Partner for Local JEEP and Peugeot EV Production


Stellantis Group and Dongfeng Motor Group signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement on May 15. The contract outlines an investment project totaling over RMB 8.00 billion (USD 1.16 billion), or approximately 1 billion euros, with Stellantis expected to contribute roughly 130 million euros. Under the terms of the agreement, the partners will utilize Dongfeng’s manufacturing plant in Wuhan to localize production of next-generation electric platforms.


The production roadmap dictates that the joint venture will begin mass production of two new Peugeot brand new energy vehicles (NEVs) starting in 2027. Additionally, beginning in the same year, the Wuhan facility will mass-produce two JEEP brand NEV models dedicated to the global export market.



HIMA Launches Luxeed V9 Flagship MPV with Advanced Intelligence


Huawei's Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance (HIMA) officially launched its first flagship luxury MPV, the Luxeed V9, on May 15. The model enters the market with four configurations, priced from RMB 389,800 (USD 56,500) to RMB 519,800 (USD 75,300). Positioned as a full-size luxury vehicle, the V9 integrates several premium technologies, including the Harmony ALPS Health Cabin 3.0, the MPV-specific Huawei Turing chassis platform, and an industry-first active on-board oxygen generation system.


The vehicle features a full-row protective airbag matrix and premium Huawei Sound acoustics. Mechanical highlights include an active rear-wheel steering system with a ±7° angle to reduce the turning radius. For environment perception, the V9 is equipped with 38 sensors as standard, including an 896-line image-grade Lidar system—the highest specification for a mass-produced MPV globally. HIMA confirmed that the Luxeed V9 will be among the first vehicles to receive an over-the-air upgrade to the Huawei Qiankun ADS 5 intelligent driving suite.



All-New Li L9 Launched with Fully Active Suspension


Li Auto officially released the next generation of its flagship SUV, the Li L9, on May 15. The lineup comprises two variants: the Ultra edition priced at RMB 459,800 (USD 66,600) and the Livis edition at RMB 509,800 (USD 73,900). The 2026 model introduces an 800V fully active suspension system, which Li notes is the first application of this technology in a vehicle priced under 600,000 yuan. The fully wire-controlled chassis integrates line-controlled steering, four-wheel steering, and electromechanical braking (EMB).


The new L9 is powered by a self-developed third-generation 1.5T extended-range system paired with 5C fast-charging battery packs. The vehicle carries a 72.7kWh battery, providing a CLTC pure electric range of 420km and a total comprehensive range of 1,650km. Efficiency figures show a WLTC fuel consumption of 6.3L/100km under battery-depleted conditions, with range-extender noise restricted below 0.1dB. Safety features include 11 airbags and an updated AEB/AES active safety system that operates at speeds up to 130km/h, augmented by suspension collision-lifting protection.



ONVO L80 Intelligent SUV Debuts from USD 22,700 on BaaS


NIO’s family-focused brand, ONVO, officially launched its L80 SUV on May 15 with three trim levels. Under the full-purchase program, the price range is set between RMB 242,800 (USD 35,200) and RMB 279,800 (USD 40,600). Opting for the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) battery rental option reduces the vehicle purchase price to a range of RMB 156,800 (USD 22,700) to RMB 193,800 (USD 28,100). The model is divided into a Lidar-equipped version running on the ShenJi NX9031 smart driving chip and a pure-vision variant utilizing the OrinX processor.


The L80 is built on a full-domain 900V electrical architecture, offered in both rear-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive formats. The single-motor RWD version delivers 340kW with a 0-100km/h sprint time of 5.9 seconds. The dual-motor AWD version adds a 100kW front motor, reducing the 0-100km/h acceleration to 4.7 seconds. According to ONVO, the SUV is equipped with an 85kWh ternary lithium battery pack, delivering CLTC ranges of 615km for the RWD and 570km for the AWD configurations.
