CAAM: China's 2025 Auto Exports Expected to Surpass 6.5 Million Units  


Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM), stated on October 14 that based on current industry development trends, China's automobile exports are projected to exceed 6.5 million units in 2025. Additionally, cumulative new energy vehicle sales are anticipated to surpass 16 million units this year, with overall market performance exceeding earlier expectations. CAAM data shows September exports reached 652,000 vehicles, increasing 6.7% month-on-month and 21% year-on-year. From January to September, total exports hit 4.95 million units, reflecting a 14.8% YoY growth.



China's September Auto Sales Reach 32.26 Million Units, Up 14.9% Year-on-Year  


The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) released data on October 14 indicating that September automobile production and sales reached 3.276 million and 3.226 million units, respectively. This represents month-on-month growth of 16.4% and 12.9%, and year-on-year increases of 17.1% and 14.9%. This marks the first time in historical records that September figures have exceeded 3 million units, with monthly year-on-year growth rates maintaining above 10% for five consecutive months. Cumulative production and sales from January to September totaled 24.333 million and 24.363 million units, growing 13.3% and 12.9% year-on-year.



September NEV Sales Hit 1.604 Million Units with 24.6% Annual Growth  


According to CAAM data released on October 14, new energy vehicle production and sales in September reached 1.617 million and 1.604 million units, rising 23.7% and 24.6% year-on-year. NEVs accounted for 49.7% of total new automobile sales during the month. From January to September, cumulative NEV production and sales achieved 11.243 million and 11.228 million units, surging 35.2% and 34.9% compared to the same period in 2024. NEVs constituted 46.1% of all new automobile sales over the first three quarters, highlighting accelerated market penetration.



MPS: National Motor Vehicle Inventory Reaches 460 Million Units  


The Ministry of Public Security of China (MPS) announced at an October 14 press conference in Beijing that as of the end of September 2025, China's motor vehicle inventory has reached 460 million units, including 360 million cars. The number of licensed drivers stands at 550 million. China now leads globally in total volume and incremental growth for both motor vehicles and licensed drivers, underscoring the expanding scale of the country’s mobility ecosystem.
