Xpeng GX Flagship SUV Officially Enters Market


On May 20, Xpeng Motors officially launched its first large six-seater SUV, the Xpeng GX, offering eight distinct configurations. The official vehicle line carries an initial guidance price range of RMB 279,800 (USD 40,600) to RMB 359,800 (USD 52,100), with a limited-time launch price established from RMB 269,800 (USD 39,100) to RMB 349,800 (USD 50,700). Built on the SEPA 3.0 physical AI architecture, the model is equipped with four proprietary Turing chips delivering a combined computing power of 3,000 TOPS to support L4-grade autonomous driving capabilities.


The Xpeng GX is available in both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) configurations. The BEV variant features a dual-motor four-wheel-drive powertrain that yields a maximum range of 750km. The EREV version records a pure electric range of 430km alongside a total comprehensive range of 1,585km, utilizing integrated 5C ultra-fast charging technology. Safety and mechanical features include an aviation-grade six-fold safety redundancy system, driver disability assistance, a native wire-controlled chassis, and active rear-wheel steering.



Zeekr Launches Updated 2026 Zeekr 009 MPV


The Zeekr brand officially released the updated 2026 model year Zeekr 009 mid-to-large size MPV on May 19. The brand introduced three separate configuration models, entering the domestic market with a post-equity price spectrum ranging from RMB 413,800 (USD 60,000) to RMB 443,800 (USD 64,300). The vehicle platform is engineered around a full-stack 900V high-voltage architecture, enabling the four-wheel-drive version to generate a maximum power output of 680 kW. This configuration completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds and delivers a CLTC pure electric range of 720km, supporting rapid energy replenishment capable of adding 510km of range in 10 minutes.


The premium MPV updates its internal processing units with the Thor-U chip, yielding a localized computing performance of 700 TOPS. The processing system runs the standard G-Pilot H7G-ASD advanced driving assistance suite, which provides full-domain navigation on autopilot and automated parking functions. Chassis upgrades include the installation of a closed-type dual-chamber air suspension system paired with dual-valve CCD electromagnetic dampers to manage control stability and cabin passenger comfort simultaneously.



Stellantis and Leapmotor Plan Compact Electric Vehicle Production in Italy


According to statements from individuals familiar with the matter on May 19, Stellantis is finalizing plans to establish a joint manufacturing program with China's Leapmotor to build an affordable compact electric vehicle in Italy. This industrial initiative is designed to structurally reduce production costs and secure access to competitive vehicle technologies. Stellantis corporate representatives confirmed that the upcoming model, designated under the project name E-Car, is scheduled to commence mass production at its localized Italian manufacturing facilities starting in 2028. Leapmotor serves as the primary technical and engineering partner for this manufacturing project.



Hesai Technology Secures Mercedes-Benz Global L3 Lidar Supply Contract


Hesai Technology announced on May 19 that it has formalised a strategic partnership with Mercedes-Benz, securing a position as the confirmed hardware supplier for the German automaker’s global L3-grade autonomous driving vehicle programs. The newly finalized supply agreement covers comprehensive vehicle projects destined for both European and Chinese markets. According to Hesai, the production capacity required to satisfy this international contract will be exclusively supplied by Hesai's specialized "Galileo" manufacturing center located in Thailand.
