Xiaomi’s SU7 electric sedan has been officially unveiled to the European public for the first time. Xiaomi’s president, Lu Weibing, revealed in an interview that the company aims to target 20 million premium users for its new EV.

Contrary to popular belief, the European debut of the Xiaomi SU7 did not take place at the ongoing Geneva Motor Show. Instead, it made its grand entrance at the 2024 Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, where Xiaomi, as a leading smartphone and consumer electronics giant, feels more at home.

Lu Weibing shared a photo of the Gulf Blue SU7 from MWC on his Weibo account, captioning it, “The Xiaomi SU7 has been launched at the MWC. Is it cool?” Later, he granted an interview to CNBC, stating, “We believe it’s a strong starting point for us in the premium segment since we already have 20 million premium users in China based on our smartphone business.”

Weibing also predicts that in 10 or 20 years, the electric vehicle market will resemble today’s smartphone market, with the top five brands dominating approximately 70% of the market share. Currently, there are approximately 100 EV manufacturers in China.

The SU7 was initially unveiled in China on December 27. The EV is built on Xiaomi’s Modena platform and slightly exceeds the Porsche Taycan in length. It boasts dimensions of 4997/1963/1455 mm (L/W/H) and a wheelbase of 3000 mm. The car offers ample storage space, including a generous 105-liter front trunk and a boot capacity of 517 liters.

The SU7 supports 800V charging, enabling a range extension of 220 km in just 5 minutes. Powered by CATL’s Qilin NMC battery with a capacity of 101 kWh, it boasts a maximum range of 800 km under CLTC conditions.

The AWD version boasts a powerful 495 kW motor and impressive 838 Nm torque, making it capable of achieving a swift 0-100 km/h acceleration in just 2 seconds.
