Denza D9 Second Generation: Market Launch and Pricing
Denza, the premium New Energy Vehicle (NEV) brand under BYD, has officially released the second-generation Denza D9. The updated D9 consists of six configurations, in which three are BEVs and three are PHEVs.
The official price range is set from RMB 359,800 (USD 52,100) to RMB 469,800 (USD 68,100). This second-gen version is upgraded on the following three core pillars: energy replenishment efficiency, passenger comfort, and advanced intelligence.
According to Denza official filings, the D9 has maintained its position as the top-selling MPV in the Chinese market for three consecutive years (2023–2025). This success has effectively challenged the long-standing dominance of traditional foreign joint-venture brands in the RMB 300,000 to RMB 500,000 segment. The second-generation model seeks to consolidate this market share by introducing several industry-first technical applications. Let’s break it down and find out the key improvements on the model.
Technical Breakthroughs in Power and Charging
The second-generation Denza D9 is equipped with BYD’s second-generation Blade battery across all trims, integrated with new flash-charging technology. Official performance data indicates the vehicle can charge from 10% to 70% in approximately 5 minutes, and achieve a 10% to 97% state-of-charge in just 9 minutes.
For endurance, the BEV version achieves a maximum CLTC range of 800km, while the PHEV variant offers a pure electric range of 401km—the highest in the plug-in hybrid MPV category.
Central to the mechanical upgrade is the "Heyuan" ultra-integrated power platform. This architecture reconfigures the layout of the engine, battery, and chassis to achieve a balance between interior space, range, and handling.
Furthermore, the vehicle adopts the dual-valve DiSus-C (Yunnian-C) suspension system. This system utilizes road pre-scanning functions to adjust the vehicle's posture in real-time, significantly mitigating vibrations and enhancing stability for all occupants.
Cabin Comfort and Intelligent Driving Systems
In terms of spatial utility, the second-generation D9 provides a trunk volume of 882 liters even with full passenger occupancy, supplemented by a 126-liter sunken storage area. The interior features independent second-row seating and a new-generation AI intelligent cockpit that supports multi-zone voice interaction. The luxury atmosphere is maintained through a multi-screen interconnect system, an on-board an intelligent climate-controlled refrigerator, and a Devialet sound system, reinforcing its dual-use positioning for both business and family scenarios.
Safety and intelligence are anchored by the "God’s Eye 5.0" assisted driving system. The suite supports high-speed cruising, urban congestion navigation, and automated parking. The vehicle features a comprehensive active safety system including AEB, AES, and ESA. Structural safety is enhanced through specialized high-speed tire blowout stability and crosswind control, while standard multi-airbags and extended side curtains provide full-row protection for all three rows of passengers.
