BYD Unveils New Xia MPV with Advanced Hybrid Technology
On January 8, BYD introduced its latest addition to the Dynasty lineup, the Xia model. This premium mid-to-large MPV boasts a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) powertrain with BYD’s latest DM 5.0 technology. The Xia MPV is available in four versions, with prices ranging from 249,800 yuan (approximately 34,100 USD) to 309,800 yuan (around 42,250USD).
Launch and Pre-orders
The Xia made its debut on August 30, 2024, during the Chengdu auto show, where BYD announced that the MPV would be priced at the RMB 300,000 level. Pre-orders for the Xia began on September 27, 2024, although pricing details were not disclosed at that time.
Design and Features
As part of BYD’s Dynasty range, the Xia MPV inherits the distinctive dragon face design, highlighted by an imposing grille and chrome bar featuring the Xia (夏) Chinese character.The vehicle offers a CLTC range of up to 1,060 km and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds, showcasing its impressive performance capabilities.
The Xia MPV is designed with passenger comfort in mind, featuring electric sliding doors and double soundproof glass. The three-row, seven-seat configuration provides ample space, with dimensions measuring 5,145 mm in length, 1,970 mm in width, and 1,805 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 3,045 mm.
Interior and Technology
Inside, the Xia MPV is equipped with the DiLink 100 and DiLink 150 systems, offering versatile seating modes for enhanced comfort. The vehicle also comes standard with the DiPilot 100 high-end intelligent driving assistance system, which supports high-speed driving and full-scene intelligent parking assistance. Additionally, the DiSus-C intelligent damping control system allows the car to sense the road surface in advance and adjust the damping accordingly, ensuring a smooth and safe ride.
