Changan Hunter K50 Launches as Industry's First Super Extended-Range Digital Pickup

Changan Automobile unveiled the full-series Hunter K50 pickup at the Chengdu Auto Show ON August 29. The extended-range pickup offers six variants covering  2WD/4WD and standard/long-bed configurations with a starting price of RMB 127,900 (≈ USD 17,800).

K50 pioneered extended-range technology in the pickup segment, delivering advanced intelligent features and new energy capabilities, enhancing targeted consumer’s intelligent driving experience.

Blue Whale Super Range System Delivers 1,031 km Comprehensive Range

K50 is equipped with the Blue Whale Super Range Extension System, boosting a total of 1,031km comprehensive range. According to the company, the car costs approximately RMB 0.07 per kilometer for pure-electric driving, saving RMB 15,600 annually for the user, which is beneficial for agriculture, forestry, emergency response, and high-frequency commercial users.

Robust Powertrain and Off-Road Capabilities

The K50 pickup has an upgraded powertrain feature, powerful as it can:

- An upgraded 30kW external discharge system with 227kWh capacity, perfect for aerial operations, camping, and emergency power supply.

- An intelligent E-AWD system with 5,000Nm wheel-end torque, capable of accelerating from 0-100km/h in 7.9 seconds.

- OR2-level off-road capability via ladder frame chassis with underbody armor (29° approach angle, 26° departure angle, and 600mm wading depth).

- Double-wishbone front and five-link rear suspension handle complex terrains.

- The pickup is designed for 1.1-ton payloads (maximum payloads of 2 tons), 2.5-ton towing capacity.

Smart and Connected Cabin Experience Powered by Huawei HMS

Inside the cabin, the K50 has a crisp digital cluster with a 12.3-inch central display under one continuous glass. Besides, the vehicle is highlighted by its smart cabin with intelligent configurations supported by Huawei HMS for Car, enabling L2 ADAS, 10 drive modes, wireless phone charging, in-car karaoke, remote app control.
