On April 22nd, Huawei Qinkun Intelligent Driving Solutions unveiled its Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.0 in Shanghai. On the event, Yuzhi Jin, CEO of Huawei's Intelligent Automotive Solution BU, introduced the Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.0 with four versions: ADS Base, Pro, Max, and Ultra.
What kind of innovation and improvement did Huawei bring to us? Let’s check out the 4 improvements make by Huawei.
1. Architectural Upgrade: Efficiency Gains
The ADS 4 adopts Huawei’s next-gen World Engine + World Behavior Model (WEWA) architecture, more efficient in terms of driving assistance, featuring:
- reduce end-to-end latency by 50%
- improve traffic flow efficiency by 20%
- cut hard-braking incidents by 30%
2. Safety Leap: CAS 4.0 and Lidar Precision
As Yu Chengdong, Huawei’s Senior VP, mentioned before, ”Safety is the greatest luxury.” Huawei upgraded its CAS 4.0 (Comprehensive Anti-Collision System), expanding active protection across various scenarios, for example:
- Forward AEB: Activate at the speed of 150km/h (Compared with the general activated speed between km/h to 135km/h in the industry)
- LOCP (Lateral Obstacle Collision Prevention) speed: Activate at the speed between 30–130 km/h
- High-resolution solid-state lidar: Detects 3cm-high objects, including sunken curbs, overhanging pipes, and irregular obstacles
- Detect a blowout within 200ms to control the stability of the car
- And other additional features such as driver incapacitation assistance and sentry mode
3. Experience Enhancement: P2P 2.0 and VPD 2.0
The P2P (Parking to Parking) 2.0 system will integrate highway ETC toll lane recognition. Furthermore, the car can be seamless switched to VPD 2.0 automated parking, which enables parking in different floors in an underground parking lot.
4. Industrialization Push: Validating L3 Readiness
By integrating the algorithms, sensors, and vehicle engineering, Huawei came across 6 billion km of cloud-simulated validation on the commercial capability of L3 highway solution.
The ADS Ultra, as the top-tier version, is more powerful with following features: 1) highway L3 autonomy, 2) Valet Parking Drive (VPD), 3) point-to-point (P2P) navigation, 4) urban/highway Navigation Cruise Assist (NCA), 5) full-scenario parking, and 6) multi-dimensional active safety systems.
According to Huawei, models such as Dongfeng's M817, Audi, VOYAH, Deepal, and GAC Trumpchi will be among the first to adopt Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 4.0. Besides, Dongfeng, Audi, and other models will be among the first to equip with the new-gen intelligent driving assistance system L3 highway solution.
