Stelato, a premium auto brand backed by Huawei and BAIC, officially launched its Stelato S9T on September 16. The brand received 7,500 firm orders after within 24 hours after the launch.

Positioning and Pricing

The mid-to-large premium sedan, positioning itself as a touring car, offers our variants in both extended-range and pure electric power options, with starting prices of RMB 309,800 (approx. USD 43,000) and RMB 329,800 (approx. USD 45,800) respectively, furthermore, the highest price is RMB 369,800 (approx. USD 53,400). The company promised that it will commence delivery on September 21, showcasing its strong manufacturing velocity supported by BAIC.

According to Richard Yu, Huawei executive director and consumer group CEO, it is hard to launch a touring car in China, though it’s popular in Europe and North America. In China, it only accounts for 1% of the total sales in years.
