BYD refreshes its cheapest model Seagull with a Starting Price of RMB 69,800

BYD has introduced an upgraded version of its most affordable model, the Seagull, significantly reducing the starting price to RMB 69,800, approximately $9,700.

The Seagull's Glory Edition, launched by BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY), now starts at RMB 69,800, marking a reduction of RMB 4,000, or 5.42%, from the previous starting price of RMB 73,800.

Despite the price adjustment, the battery electric vehicle (BEV) maintains its key specifications, with dimensions of 3,780 mm in length, 1,715 mm in width, and 1,540 mm in height, along with a wheelbase of 2,500 mm.

The Seagull continues to utilize a blade battery based on lithium iron phosphate chemistry. The two more affordable versions feature a pack capacity of 30.08 kWh, while the pricier option retains the 38.88 kWh capacity. All three versions offer a CLTC range of 305 kilometers, with the 38.88 kWh variant reaching 405 kilometers.

Powered by an electric motor with a maximum power output of 55 kW and a peak torque of 135 Nm, the Seagull accelerates from 0 to 50 kilometers per hour in just 4.9 seconds. However, BYD did not specify the acceleration time for 0 to 100 km/h for this model.
