Cheaper Than BYD ATTO 3, BYD Releases Its Cheapest SUV Yuan UP at $11,000

BYD unveils its latest addition to the Dynasty series with the launch of the Yuan UP, expected to start at RMB 79,800 (≈11,000 USD). Positioned lower than BYD ATTO 3, Yuan UP is the cheapest SUV of BYD.

Continuing the Song L design language, the Yuan UP boasts a distinctive “dragon face” according to BYD, accentuated by a black trim encircling the car. Notable features include semi-concealed door handles and a sleek "floating roof". Designed primarily for urban driving, it falls into the crossover vehicle category, resembling models like the Kia Soul but with a more curved design.


Built on the e-Platform 3.0, also used for the Atto 3, the Yuan UP measures 4310/1830/1675 mm with a wheelbase of 2620 mm. It offers two optional e-motors, with power outputs of 70 kW and 130 kW respectively. Depending on the selected battery option, ranging from 32 kWh to 45.1 kWh, it can cover distances of 301 to 401 km on a single charge.


Inside, the Yuan UP features a D-shaped steering wheel adorned with the signature Yuan () logo and an 8.8-inch LCD instrument cluster. The cabin showcases a versatile 12.8-inch center screen capable of rotation. The seats, upholstered in perforated leatherette, offer power adjustments. The center console includes a wireless charging pad, crystal gear selector, and physical buttons for essential functions. The interior is illuminated by a spacious panoramic roof and offers mixed color schemes such as black and beige or pink, charcoal, and light gray. The backseat provides a flat floor for enhanced comfort.
