IM Motors has introduced the refreshed 2024 L7 sedan, its flagship model, with a reduced starting price and enhanced features.
The updated L7, which previously started at RMB 338,800, now has a starting price of RMB 299,900 ($41,700), marking a significant reduction of RMB 38,900 or 11.5 percent.
The refreshed model, launched on February 24th, is offered in four variants with prices ranging from RMB 299,900 to RMB 419,900. This compares to the previous three versions priced between RMB 338,800 and RMB 408,800.
IM Motors, an electric vehicle subsidiary of SAIC Motor Corp, began delivering the L7 in June 2022, marking its entry into the mid-size all-electric sedan segment.
The new L7 boasts dimensions of 5,108 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,485 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,100 mm. This represents a 10 mm increase in length compared to the previous model.
The updated L7 comes equipped with intelligent features, smart driving capabilities, and AI interaction. Additionally, it comes standard with two LiDARs and one Nvidia Orin X chip.
Powertrain options include a single-motor version featuring a rear motor with a maximum power of 250 kW. This configuration has a maximum torque of 175 Nm and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds.
For those seeking more power, the dual-motor version offers a front motor with a maximum power of 175 kW and a maximum torque of 250 Nm, paired with a rear motor delivering 250 kW of maximum power and 175 Nm of maximum torque. This configuration can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 3.87 seconds.
All versions of the new L7 come standard with a 90 kWh Li-ion ternary battery pack from CATL, providing a CLTC range of 705 km for the single-motor variant and 625 km for the dual-motor model.
In addition to offering the 2024 L7 sedan at a reduced starting price, IM Motors is sweetening the deal for early birds. Customers who order the updated model before March 31 will receive a generous gift package worth up to RMB 63,800. This includes a RMB 2,000 payment that effectively knocks off RMB 10,000 from the purchase price, along with configuration upgrades valued at RMB 55,800.
Since its establishment on November 26, 2020, IM Motors has been a joint venture between SAIC, Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, and Alibaba, with SAIC holding the lion's share.
The company has been busy expanding its lineup, with the LS7 SUV marking its second model. Deliveries of this SUV began in March 2023. Just months later, on October 13, 2023, IM Motors introduced the LS6, and deliveries started at the end of that month.
IM Motors is gearing up for the launch of another model, the L6, an all-electric sedan that made its way into China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) model catalog last month. This addition further broadens the company's electric vehicle offering.
Looking ahead, according to a February 22 report by local automotive media outlet Cheshi, IM Motors' co-CEO Liu Tao revealed that the company's fifth model will feature extended-range technology. This announcement hints at the company's commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, as it continues to expand its electric vehicle lineup.
