Avatr 012 Limited Edition Launches at RMB 700,000
Avatr, a premium EV brand co-built by Changan Auto, Huawei and CATL, launched its 012 Limited Edition on March 25th, with a price as high as RMB 700,000 (USD 107,692*)*, by offering only 700 units globally.
The Avatr 012 is co-designed by Dior and Fendi artistic director Kim Jones, representing a combine of automotive luxury and haute couture aesthetic.
Design Philosophy: From Runway to Road
Kim Jones infused the Avatr 012 with avant-garde touches, such as liquid silver paint and 21-inch forged alloy wheels showcasing an elegant design of the car’s outlook, the interior decoration inspired by luxury handbag palettes, a starry roof lighting like a spacecraft cabin, plant-tanned Nappa leather symbols a green lifestyle.
Tech Arsenal: Huawei x CATL Synergy
The Avatr 012 is armed with key intelligent functions from Huawei and CATL.
The Huawei ADS 3.0 Autonomous Driving is capable of full-scenario navigation, HarmonyOS Smart Cockpit enables seamless car-human interaction and voice control, Huawei DriveONE Dual-Motor System boosts 402 kW output, and a 0-100km/h acceleration rate of 3.8 seconds, while CATL’s Qilin Ultra-Fast Charging Battery ensures 10–80% charge in 15 minutes.
Brand Context: Avatr’s Disruptive Ambition
The Avatr 012 is not the first luxury limited edition launched by Avatr. In 2022, Avatr 011 is also a creation co-designed by Matthew M. Williams, priced at RMB 600,000, with only 500 units made. Avatr positions itself as challenger to legacy luxury marques first day of its establishment in 2021.
While the luxury positioning didn’t brought sales to the brand, until last year. In 2024, Avatr delivered 73,606 units, a 100% increase YoY. In 2025, Avatr targets 220,000 units sales volume.
