BYD, Chinese NEV giant, recently released the latest Long-rang editions of its best-seller Han mid-large sedan. On October 11, the company unveiled the model’s key upgrades and pricing in a launching event. According to the event, the Han Long-Range Edition has both plug-in hybrid and EV powertrain options. The Han Long-Range Edition plug-in hybrid DM-i variant prices between RMB 159,800 (USD 22,500) to RMB 189,800 (USD 26,700) with 4 trims, and the pure electric EV version between RMB 173,800 (USD 24,500) to RMB205,800 (USD 29,000) with 3 trims.
Powertrain and Range
The Han DM-i Long-Range incorporates
- The fifth-generation DM technology, achieving a pure electric range of 245 km and a total comprehensive range of 1,560 km.
- Battery Drain Rate: 3.44L/100km.
The EV variant features
- A new 8-in-1 intelligent electric drive system, delivering 635-705 km pure electric range
- Electricity consumption per 100 kilometers: 10.6 kWh.
- 0-100km/h acceleration rate: 6.9s.
Interior and Exterior Updates
Catering to customers’ demand for personalization, the Han Long-range version offers three new exterior color options: Rime Gold, Pine Shadow Green, and Distant Peak Blue. In the cabin, it introduces laser-engraved panels and premium leather materials.
Chassis
The model adopts the advanced intelligent chassis, the Yunjiang-C intelligent damping body control system, which works with active preview functionality to scan road conditions 15 meters ahead, so that the car can adjust accordingly to avoid bumps ahead.
Intelligent Driving Assistant System
The model utilizes DiPilot 300 Advanced Driving Assistance System (God’s Eye B Solution), supporting over 300 parking scenarios.
More Comfortable and Safe
To improve the comfort experience, the Han EV Long-range version offers a 4.5L intelligent refrigerator, with temperature range from -6°C to 50°C. Creatively, the car is armed with an advanced anti-motion sickness system, and ANC active noise cancellation. Safety systems feature the TBC high-speed tire-blowout stability system, providing millisecond-level response during tire failures.
Market Competition
Rivaling with key models in the RMB200,000 segment, the Han Long-range version is facing a fierce competition. The DM-i Hybrid variants will contend with models including the Lynk & Co 07 EM-P, Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Volkswagen Magotan, while the EV variants rivalling with XPeng P7+, Xiaomi SU7, ZEEKR 007, and Tesla Model 3.
According to the latest market data, the Han model has achieved cumulative sales exceeding 100,000 units globally with an average monthly delivery above 10,000 units, and peak monthly sales of 20,000 units.
