BYD's new Seal 06 model is expected to be a game changer in the electric car market. Autocango learned that the vehicles will make their mark as the frontrunners equipped with the fifth-generation DM-i hybrid technology.

The Seal 06, with a blended range of over 2,000 kilometers and anticipated low-charge consumption of lower than 3 liters per 100 kilometers (as per New European Driving Cycle or NEDC standards), is expected to strengthen BYD's pioneering position in the NEV industry.

Details about BYD's next-generation DM-i technology remain unknown. However, the Seal 06's inclusion in China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's most recent model filing catalog suggests that an official release is forthcoming.

The Seal 06, a five-seat sedan, has outstanding dimensions: 4,830 mm length, 1,875 mm width, and 1,495 mm height. With a wheelbase of 2,790 mm, it weighs 1,610 kilos and has a top speed of 180 km/h. It combines an electric motor with a peak capacity of 120 kW and an engine displacing 1,498 cc and producing 74 kW.
