CPCA: May Retail Auto Sales Hit 1.93M Units, Up 13% YoY  


Preliminary data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) shows May retail sales reached 1.93 million units, a 13% year-on-year increase and 10% month-on-month growth. January-May cumulative retail volume hit 8.802 million units (+9% YoY). Wholesale shipments in May totaled 2.329 million units (+14% YoY, +6% MoM), with year-to-date wholesale at 10.797 million (+12% YoY). NEV retail sales surged to 1.056 million units (+30% YoY, +14% MoM), lifting NEV penetration to 53.5%. Cumulative NEV retail sales for 2025 stand at 4.38 million (+34% YoY).  



XPeng Debuts "X-HUD" AR-HUD Co-Developed with Huawei  


XPeng Motors unveiled its "X-HUD" augmented reality head-up display technology on June 5, jointly engineered with Huawei QIANKUN. The system, premiering on the upcoming G7 SUV, utilizes Huawei’s LCoS optical engine and real-time AR composition algorithms. XPeng led HMI design and vehicle data integration. This collaboration marks the first output since XPeng and Huawei’s strategic partnership announcement, with the tech slated for multiple future XPeng models.  



DFAC Reports May Sales of 10,073 Vehicles  


Dongfeng Automobile Co., Ltd. (DFAC) sold 10,073 vehicles in May 2025, down from 11,615 units in May 2024. January-May cumulative sales reached 59,859 units, reflecting a 14.45% year-on-year decline. The company continues to navigate market headwinds through product refreshes of its commercial van and pickup lineups.
