On April 6, Li Auto initiated the promotions for its brand-new model, the L6, by first dispelling some unfounded rumors about the vehicle's specifications.

According to a statement released by the company, there have been rumors circulating that the Li Auto L6 uses a MacPherson strut suspension system. Addressing this, the company clearly stated, "Li Auto L6 adopts the universally applied front double-wishbone rear five-link suspension structure, which is common in luxury medium-to-large SUVs. Its minimum ground clearance is 180mm, which is 4mm higher than the standard air suspension in the 2024 Li Auto L9/L8/L7 fitted as standard."

The L6, developed over three years based on Li Auto's second-generation multipurpose vehicle platform, has seen an investment of over 2 billion yuan. Li Auto has constructed an entirely new production line to accommodate it, located at the Changzhou production base where the original Li Auto ONE and recently launched Li Auto L9/L8/L7 models are being produced simultaneously.

Li Auto further stated that the L6 is a completely fresh product, developed from scratch. It targets young families and is a luxury, medium-to-large size five-seater SUV. The company is excited for its imminent introduction to the market.

It's noteworthy that this debunking of the rumors was timely and rigorous. This makes sense when considering the enormous expectations set on the L6, particularly after the disappointing launch of the MEGA. It's clear that Li Auto considers the L6 a key player and is unflinchingly committed to getting it off to a good start.

The L6, principally marketed as a large five-seater family SUV, is expected to have a price range of 250,000–300,000 yuan. The car's "front double-wishbone independent suspension” and fully-developed features offer a stark contrast to its main competitor in this price range, the AITO M7.

However, the L6 also showcases some less promising aspects in comparison with the M7, like a potentially overfamiliar ‘Matryoshka doll’ design for both the exterior and interior. Another point of contention is the replacement of the power battery with lithium iron phosphate, rather than ternary lithium. Furthermore, with the current entry-level version of the new M7 reducing in price to 229,800 yuan, the pricing platform for the L6 warrants close consideration.

As for the comparison of dimensions and prices among the Li Auto family of vehicles currently available, please find the following list:

1. Li Auto Mega: 5350mm/1965mm/1850mm – 559,800 yuan ($77,700 USD approx.)

2. Li Auto L9: 5218mm/1998mm/1800mm – 429,800 yuan ($59,650 USD approx.)

3. Li Auto L8: 5080mm/1995mm/1800mm – 321,800 yuan ($44,700 USD approx.)

4. Li Auto L7: 5050mm/1995mm/1750mm – 301,800 yuan ($41,900 USD approx.)

To sum up, the Li Auto L6 is an upcoming, exciting addition to the Li Auto lineup, with the company confidently debunking rumors about the vehicle's specifications. Now, with eager eyes set on its imminent launch, the market is all set to witness how the SUV performs.
