SAIC MG recently submitted the new design and technical specifications for its 2025 first global vehicle MG4 EV to the China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). According to the brand, the MG4 EV is an all-electric hatchback SUV with a single motor powertrain.
Design & Dimensions: Sporty Yet Functional
The filing reveals a hatchback design with a closed front grille, using a conventional door handles, rather than eschewing pop-out units, which is preferred by most of users. Looking at the back, the car has a rear spoiler. Positioned as a compact 5-seater SUV, it measures 4,395 mm (L) x 1,842 mm (W) x 1,551 mm (H) with a 2,750 mm wheelbase.
Powertrain: 120 kW Motor, LFP Battery
In terms of the power, the MG4 EV uses a single electric motor delivering 120 kW (161 hp), boosting a top speed of 160 km/h. The car will utilize LFP batteries, supplied by REPT BATTERO Energy Co., Ltd. According to public info, the company is a fast-growing lithium-ion battery manufacturers in China, also supplying Dongfeng Passenger Vehicle and Geely.
Global Ambitions: Winter-Tested, Export-Focused
On MG’s official Weibo account, we learned that the G4 EV has recently completed its rigorous cold-weather testing, and is projected to be debut soon.
The brand sold 700,000 vehicles globally in 2024, in which 240,000 units were sold in European market. Last April, MG’s cumulative exports crossed 2.2 million units. 2025 will be is important year to reach a cumulative exports of 3 million vehicles.
