Chassis systems are enhancing how we drive. The highlight chassis techs includes hydraulic by-wire braking actuators, electric power steering systems, and air suspension shock absorbers, all significantly improved driving experience. Let’s explore the innovations that are making our drive smoother and safer.
BYD DENZA: Yunnian-M Magnetic Suspension
DENZA showcased its Z Concept car on Shanghai Auto Show. The most eye-catching system that is loaded on the concept car is the Yunnian-M System (DiSus-M body control system). The Yunnian-M offers bidirectional stepless adjustment of rebound and compression damping, building-up a damping force within 10ms. With an excellent reduction on noise, the system is tailored especially for luxury EVs.
IM Motors L6’s 3rd-Gen Wire-Controlled Digital Chassis
IM represents latest innovation on its third-gen Wire-Controlled Digital Chassis. With a class-leading 4.69-meter turning radius, the system integrates steering, braking, and suspension controls via wire-driven actuators. The system enables millisecond-level adjustments to suspension stiffness, height, and damping. The system will debut on a new flagship model in Q4 2025, followed by a fourth-gen version in 2026.
ZF Smart Chassis Solutions
Top-tier suppliers, including Bosch, ZF, and Continental, showcased their smart chassis solutions as well. For ZF, its Chassis 2.0 integrates core products such as all-electric steering control system, braking system, and suspension control system.
Besides, the company presents its latest steer-by-wire system, which is adopted on the NIO ET9.
ZF also has a dry electronic braking system (EMB), which has received an order from a globally leading automaker. It is said that the system will be loaded on five million vehicles.
