Chery's New iCAR Brand Launches 1st EV Model iCAR 03

Chery's newly unveiled iCAR brand has introduced its inaugural electric vehicle (EV), the iCAR 03 electric SUV, targeting a youthful audience. Launched in April 2023, the model offers a boxy aesthetic specifically designed for young drivers.

The iCAR 03 is available in six configurations, encompassing three single-motor and three dual-motor options, with pricing starting at RMB 109,800 ($15,260) and increasing incrementally up to RMB 169,800.

Featuring a length, width, and height of 4,406 mm, 1,910 mm, and 1,715 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,715 mm, the iCAR 03 provides a well-proportioned and compact design.

The single-motor rear-wheel-drive versions boast a maximum power of 135 kW and a maximum torque of 184 Nm. In contrast, the dual-motor four-wheel-drive versions deliver a total power of 205 kW and a maximum torque of 279 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 6.5 seconds.

Equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery from CATL, the iCAR 03 provides three range options under the Chinese Light-duty Test Cycle (CLTC): 401 km, 472 km, and 501 km.

Notably, the top-tier model of the iCAR 03 offers an optional smart driving feature developed by drone maker DJI, providing advanced visual-based smart driving capabilities.

Chery officially introduced the iCAR brand on April 7, 2023, marking the group's first independent venture into the EV market. Positioned for fashion-conscious young drivers, iCAR aims to create a dynamic mobility space tailored to user preferences. The brand's product range will encompass both sedans and SUVs, targeting a price range of RMB 150,000 to 300,000, as previously announced by Chery last year.
