BYD's First Hybrid Model Launch in Ecuador

BYD launches the first-ever hybrid in Ecuador after it introduced three all-electric models Han EV, Yuan Plus EV, Dolphin, and Tang EV.

According to reports, BYD has launched Song Plus DM-i in Ecuador. BYD launched its first-ever hybrid model, Song Plus DM-I, at Ecuador’s biggest motor show, the Guayaquil Auto Show, which took place from July 9th to 14th.

Song Plus DM-i is capable of producing 337 horsepower with a combined range that reaches 1,105 km. Additionally, the vehicle features a 15.6-inch Intelligent-Rotate Screen in the cabin alongside an Infinity Deluxe sound system, providing consumers with a smooth intelligent cabin experience.

Ecuador’s Growing Automotive Market

Interestingly, the Ecuadorian automotive industry has been growing over time. However, it seems that Ecuadorians prefer small, affordable vehicles. Another interesting aspect is that most of the vehicles comes from abroad, with leading brands of Chevrolet, Toyota, Hyundai, Kia and others in this country. Global Monitor suggests there will be growth opportunities within its automobile manufacturing sector in Ecuador.

Expansion and Dealership in Guayaquil

As such, BYD announced its official dealership opening in Guayaquil, Ecuador, and committed itself to further promote its Ecuadorian venture.

Future Prospects in South America

To capture more of the South American market, however, BYD’s Brazilian factory is under construction and due for completion in 2025 with an annual output of 150,000 units while Electrek reported that BYD would soon have a factory in Mexico.
