BYD Launches Second-Generation Qin PLUS with Starting Price of RMB 69,800
BYD introduced the second-generation Qin PLUS on September 25, unveiling three new variants: the Qin PLUS DM-i 128KM Base Edition, Qin PLUS EV420 Base Edition, and Qin PLUS EV510 Base Edition. Notably, BYD announced that the NEDC fuel consumption under low battery conditions for the Qin PLUS DM-i has been reduced to 2.69 liters per 100 kilometers. This improvement will be delivered via an over-the-air update to all models equipped with the fifth-generation DM technology.
New Changan Fourth-Generation CS55PLUS Debuts with Limited-Time Offer from RMB 78,900
Changan Automobile launched the fourth-generation CS55PLUS on September 25, offering four trim levels. After applying a no-threshold exchange subsidy and a limited-time National Day travel bonus, the effective price range is RMB 78,900 to RMB 96,900 (approximately USD 11,100 to USD 13,600). The premium SDA variant features a Changan SDA driving assistance system, which supports automated lane changes for overtaking slow vehicles, evading large trucks, and manual-indicator triggered lane shifts in ADAS map-covered areas. Additionally, this variant includes a new-generation APA automated parking assist function. Powering the model is Changan’s globally debuted new Blue Whale 1.5T engine with 500Bar ultra-high pressure direct injection, delivering a maximum power of 141 kW and peak torque of 310 N·m. Coupled with the i-EM smart energy management system, the vehicle achieves a maximum range of 1,000 kilometers.
Lynk & Co 08 EM-P Launched with Limited-Time Price Starting at RMB 159,800
On September 24, Lynk & Co officially released the new 08 EM-P, available in four configurations with a limited-time price range of RMB 159,800 to RMB 212,800 (approximately USD 22,500 to USD 30,000). The model is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and features a 95-inch augmented reality head-up display, a 15.4-inch central touchscreen, and a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster. It also debuts the upgraded LYNK Flyme Auto 2 intelligent cockpit system, which supports multi-brand smartphone connectivity protocols including ICCOA, HiCar, and CarPlay, enabling seamless device integration. Furthermore, the system allows for screen mirroring from gaming consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, enhancing in-vehicle entertainment options.
Study: European Car Buyers Favor Chinese Brands as American Appeal Declines
According to a study titled "China Automotive Brand Influence" released by research firm Escalent on September 25, 47 percent of European car buyers would consider purchasing a Chinese automotive brand, while 44 percent would opt for an American brand. The report indicated that consideration rates for car brands from other countries increased year-on-year in Europe, with the United States being the sole exception. In contrast, data from 2024 showed a reverse trend, with only 31 percent of buyers considering Chinese vehicles and 51 percent favoring American options.
Chery Automobile Successfully Lists on Hong Kong Stock Exchange Main Board
On September 25, Chery Automobile made its debut on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, trading under the stock code 9973. The initial public offering was priced at the upper limit of HKD 30.75 per share, raising a total of HKD 9.14 billion. On the first trading day, the stock closed at HKD 34.2 per share, marking a surge of over 11.22 percent from the offer price. This performance propelled Chery’s market capitalization to nearly HKD 200 billion, settling at approximately HKD 197.2 billion.
