BYD Sealion 05 EV Launched: A-Class Electric SUV in Competitive Price Range

BYD Sealion 05 EV has launched yesterday on March 26th. Positioned as an A-class all-electric SUV, the car targets RMB 100,000 to RMB 150,000 segment, pricing between RMB 117,800 yuan to RMB 137,800 yuan in 3 trims.

Design and Dimensions

The car design follows ocean family classic look, measuring 4520mm in length, 1860 in width, and 1630 in height, with a 2720mm wheelbase. Sealion 05 offers four exterior colors, grey, green and two whites, while two interior colors includes black and grey.

Advanced Features and Architecture

The rear-wheel-drive SUV, built based on BYD’s e-Platfrom 3.0 Evo architecture, comes standard with the God’s Eye ADAS (DiPilot 100), DiLink 100 smart cockpit and five-link rear suspension.

In terms of powertrain, the e-Platfrom 3.0 Evo offers peak outputs of 140kW and 160kW. It takes 18 minutes to charge from 30%-80%.

The God’s Eye ADAS (DiPilot 100) features 29 sensors, in order to provide advanced driving assistance functions like high-speed navigation, full-scene parking and etc.

As for DiLink 100 smart cockpit, the cabin supports continuous human-car conversation, 3D vehicle control, semantic association, and in-depth custom navigation.

By adopting front MacPherson + rear five link independent suspension scheme, the car is well in control travelling in small city lanes.

It is worth mentioning that the model adopts some features to attract female consumers, such as magnetic LED vanity mirrors, a dual-mode fridge, and ventilated/heated front seats.  

Market Competition

Sealion 05 is facing fierce competition to rival with GAC’s Aio Y Plus, BAIC’s Kaola S, and Leapmotor B10.
