August 1st, IM Motors, SAIC’s premium NEV subsidiary co-built with Zhangjiang Hi-Tech and Alibaba, launched its Stellar Super Range-Extender system featuring groundbreaking technologies including battery, high-voltage architecture, engine and noise cancellation.

Industry-Leading Super Xiaoyao Max Battery

The Super Xiaoyao Max Battery was co-developed by IM Motors and CATL, labeled as a dedicated range-extender battery at the industry's largest 66kWh capacity. The battery delivers over 450km CLTC pure-electric range and 1,500km+ total range.

In order to extend the battery lifespan, IM Motors utilizes premium single-crystal ternary lithium cells, which cost much higher but could reduce charge cycles by 50%. Besides, the battery supports regular charging functions at sub-zero temperatures as low as -30°C and achieve the same charging speed as in springtime.

Powerful 800V SiC Hurricane Motor

The model was developed under 800V SiC architecture paired with Hurricane Motor, achieving 268kW peak charging power. The system embraces a fast-charging ability of adding 310km range in 15 minutes, maintaining strong performance even at low SOC conditions.

Ultra-Efficient Engine for Reduced Consumption

According to the company, the model has industry-low combined energy consumption of 2.07L/100km (35% below mainstream mid-large R-EVs) and the lowest fuel consumption of 5.32L/100km among its peers, highlighting its environmental and cost benefits.

World-First Active Noise Cancellation Technology

It is worth mentioning that the car is equipped with a world-first technology - ERNC (Engine Room Noise Cancellation) Active Noise Cancellation system, which greatly enhanced the comfort. The system can reduce cabin noise below 36dB. What does that mean? While driving, the passengers can experience near-silent environment, it’s like, you could hear page-turning acoustics.

Upcoming Models to Feature Stellar System

On the event, the company announced that the Stellar Super Range-Extender system will debuts in the next-generation IM LS6, scheduled to be released on August 15, pairing with the next-gen Lingxi Digital Chassis. Furthermore, IM Motors will bring about its flagship six-seat LS9 SUV in Q4 2025 with the same system.
